MAHB to hold contractors accountable after three Aerotrain service disruptionsPETALING JAYA: Following three service disruptions since July, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) will hold contractors responsible for problems affecting KLIA’s Aerotrain system.
According to MAHB, two occurrences on July 12 and Sept 3 involved a power loss caused by a dislodged Current Collector Device, disrupting the power feed on the guideway and leading to train stoppages. “These incidents fall within the purview of Alstom, the Aerotrain’s primary contractor, which is accountable for the train and traction systems,” MAHB said in a statement. |

Authorities foil RM20,000 wildlife smuggling attempt at KLIAPETALING JAYA: A 46-year-old man was detained at KLIA Terminal 1 last night for trying to smuggle a gibbon and two cuscuses valued at about RM20,000 to Mumbai.
The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency said the suspect was caught at 8.10pm and is being probed under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 and the International Trade in Endangered Species Act 2008. The animals were handed over to the wildlife and national parks department’s KLIA office for further measures. See more |

Melaka CM proposes new alignment connecting West Coast Expressway to KLIAMELAKA: The Melaka government has urged that a new alignment linking the West Coast Expressway (WCE) to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) be included immediately in the presentation of Budget 2026 next month.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the alignment is planned to begin from Banting, Selangor, passing through Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, before reaching Melaka and then to Muar, Johor, thereby ensuring direct access to KLIA. See more |

KLIA ranked Asia Pacific’s most connected airport in OAG Megahubs 2025KL International Airport (KLIA) has been named the most connected airport in the Asia Pacific region and ranked fourth worldwide in OAG’s 2025 Megahubs index. Since the first Megahubs listing in 2015, KLIA has increased its connectivity by 22% and now also holds the world’s top position among low-cost carrier megahubs, with AirAsia accounting for about 36% of its operations.

PETRONAS supplies Malaysia’s first blended sustainable aviation fuel to KLIAMalaysia’s first blended sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) has been supplied to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for Malaysia Aviation Group. The SAF was blended locally at PETRONAS’ facilities and complies with CORSIA eligible fuel standards. It was transported directly to KLIA through Malaysian Refining Company’s multi-product pipeline. The SAF will be used for Malaysia Airlines’ daily Kuala Lumpur-London flights between 01-Sep-2025 and 16-Sep-2025, marking progress in integrating SAF into the airline’s regular operations.

MAHB: KLIA aerotrain resumes 24-hour service following upgrade worksKUALA LUMPUR: The aerotrain service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has resumed full 24-hour operations after completing planned overnight maintenance, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) announced.

KLIA to test vehicle access management system starting September 1KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur International Airport will start a pilot run of its new Vehicle Access Management System on September 1 to improve kerbside traffic movement and terminal accessibility.
